Work of parish ambassadors will be noted

There will only be one pair of winners at tonight’s Spirit Of The Nation show at the Wildey Gymnasium, but all 22 parish ambassadors can be sure of being acknowledged for their hard work.
That promise was made by Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley yesterday when he received a contribution cheque for $10 000 from the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).
“We will hail our winners and runners-up, but also the contribution of all of our parish ambassadors . . . and this will continue to happen as we go forward,” Lashley said.
The presentation was made at the minister’s Warren’s office by RBC’s relationship manager of business banking Seth Millar, who said the bank was “thankful” to be a part of the show and promised continued support.
Lashley said the contribution “will certainly go a long way in boosting the confidence level, not only of persons in the Community Independence Celebrations Secretariat, but . . . our young people, because all of our ambassadors are young people and this project continues to fuel their energies and imagination.” Lashley noted that this year’s focus on energy conservation had created a new awareness among communities and young people about “how we value alternative energy and how we consume electricity.” (BGIS)
