A man charged with the illegal possession of ammunition had a change of fortune late yesterday when he was granted bail by the High Court after he was initially remanded.
Jean-Marc Cozier of Market Hill, St George was placed on $30 000 bail with two sureties following a bail application by his lawyers before Chief Justice Marston Gibson.
Cozier who turned 38 yesterday also had to surrender his passport and must report to the nearest police station every Monday and Wednesday as additional bail conditions.
Earlier in the day Cozier was remanded to Dodds Prison, St Philip after he appeared before Magistrate Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell in the District “F” Magistrates’ Court, St Joseph.
He is charged with the indictable offence of  unlawfully having more than 473 rounds of assorted bullets.
Members of the Anti-Gun Unit allegedly found the ammunition at Cozier’s home while executing a search warrant at his home last Friday.
Cozier is being represented by attorneys Andrew Pilgrim and Lesley Cargill.
