At least 20 per cent of Barbados’ school-age population comprises asthmatics.
The figure is too high and something has to be done about it, says Minister of Health Donville Inniss.
Inniss disclosed the statistic concernedly yesterday as he addressed participants in the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited’s Family Fun 5K at the Bay Street Esplanade, where the event ended.
Inniss said he believed that even if there was not much that could be done at this level “to avoid becoming an asthmatic”, doing everything possible to manage the condition was necessary. (AH)
