Parents start transfer requests

A TRICKLE OF PEOPLE turned up at the Ministry of Education requesting transfers for their charges yesterday.
It was less than 24 hours after results from this year’s Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination, also known as the Common Entrance Examination, were announced by Minister of Education Ronald Jones and slips collected by principals or their representatives.
Jones said he could not give an assessment of the number of requests or the reasons put down for requests, since people had at least another six days to get the reallocation forms in.
He said the forms would be compiled and reviewed at the end of that period.
When Jones spoke to the Press on Monday, he indicated that more than 300 additional students wrote the exam this year, and that space would be “tight” at all schools.
