Success for lawmen with public appeals

Police are reaping success by using public appeals as a means of helping them capture wanted people.
Inspector David Welch said that so far this year the Royal Barbados Police Force had reached out to the public about four times for help and in each case had found the wanted man.
Yesterday he made a similar appeal for four men wanted in connection with a number of crimes. Only one of the four has been identified while the lawmen are relying on sketches from alleged victims to identify the others.
“This strategy has been very effective and that is why we continue to use it. So far for the year we put out four appeals. This is the fifth and with the exception of one we’ve been successful,” Welch said.
He explained that in the past the sketches and pictures of men being sought remained within the precincts of the police station but by releasing the information to the media the results were much better.
Police are asking for help in identifying three men suspected in three cases of robbery and whose likeness has been captured in sketches. (AC)
