DEAR CHRISTINE: Wasting money on party clothes

Dear Christine,
THIS MAY not be your kind of story. However, if you can please publish this, I would be so very grateful. Thanks in advance.
I would like to comment on the statements made by Carl Harper on www. nationnews.com in reference to the topic Barbados Cut Off Due To Economic Development.
His comments are so right, I could not have put it any better. My friends and I talk about the people in Barbados – how much their style of living is so different from ours (in the United States).
The Barbadians I know who live in the United States do not pay huge sums of money to go to a party.
We pull out our old shoes, dresses, purses and wigs when we have to. The cost of the tickets is all we are willing to pay for a good night out.
This is because we have better things to do with our money. Believe me, some of us have more than some of the Bajans at home who are wasting theirs.
To you big spenders, no one cares what you wear to a party. All that matters is that you have a wonderful time. You’ll be better off putting your extra funds in some investment for you or your children. It will be worth it in the end.
By the way, you will find me on the dancefloor most weekends wearing everything that is old, yet looking “as beautiful as ever”. Those are my husband’s words, not mine.
How you feel is all that really matters.

Dear Mars,
I have published your letter as requested.
As usual, thanks for sharing. Your comments certainly provide much food for thought.
