Hundreds gathered at the National Stadium yesterday for some heated summertime track and field action.
Sixty-two camps representing different zones took part in National Inter-Camp Games which saw a full day of keen competition. The five stands at the Stadium were packed to capacity with campers, counsellors and parents, bedecked in Zone colours. With packed lunches, coolers, noisemakers and umbrellas in hand they came by the busloads.
In his opening remarks Minister of Sports Stephen Lashley said he hoped the games would grow into a major sporting event on the calendar.
Lashley said he was pleased the games could take place at the newly refurbished track, pointing out that although both the adult and Junior Kadooment events were held at the venue, the track sustained no damage. The summer camps end this week. (TTY/BGIS)
