Barbados’ football captain Jeffrey Williams faces a dilemma this afternoon.
And he may decide to play for one team or even both in the two popular out-of-season football tournaments at different venues.
The City of Bridgetown side, which he also captains will start their quest for a third consecutive title in the David Thompson Memorial Constituency Council’s Football Classic which begins this evening at the Gall Hill Playing Field, St John.
Having won the two previous competitions in 2011 and 2012, the defending champions will start their title defence against Christ Church South in the second match of a double-header at 7:30 p.m.
At 4 p.m., Williams is expected to suit up for the Fifth Ave. Emmerson Boyce Bajan Elite in the opening match of the LIME Pelican Challenge against Scotty’s Tech 4 Less Combined Stars at the National Stadium.
After this game, Williams could journey to St John where the home team and Christ Church East will battle in the first match immediately after the opening ceremony.
Thirty teams will attend the opening parade which is slated to get underway at 4 p.m.
There will also be an all-girls Fireball exhibition match prior to the start of the second match.
Back at the Stadium, Sportstown Galaxy will oppose Nulook 360 Connection at 6 p.m. while Red Tridents will square off against Phoenix Toyota UFO Firehouse at 8 p.m.
Fire House will be bolstered by the inclusion of former Barbados captain John “Nobby” Parris. (RB/EZS)
