ENTITIES WHICH REFUSE to put money back into the Crop Over festival but use it to successfully market their goods and services may soon have to pay Government for doing so.
That’s because Government is looking at licensing the Crop Over brand.
Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley said there were several business entities which had piggy-backed off Crop Over for years but did not share those gains by investing and sponsoring any aspect of the festival.
He stressed that the Crop Over brand must be protected by a licensing arrangement so that anyone who uses it would have to pay. This, he said, may soon become a reality.
Lashley was speaking at the monthly Editors’ Forum at the NATION’s Fontabelle, St Michael complex on Wednesday. (RJ)
