Spartan claim spot in final

SUPER CENTRE SPARTAN, set up by half- centuries from Shamarh Brooks (62 not out) and Marradon Bend (50), have clinched a berth in Sunday’s final of the Sagicor General Twenty20 competition.
Playing tonight at Kensington Oval against fellow first-time semi-finalists EAS Field Pickwick, Spartan easily won by 25 runs.
Pickwick requiring 144 for victory, were dismissed for 125 in 19.2 overs. The main contributors were Kyle Hope (35), Tino Best (25) and the in form Shai Hope (20).
Left-arm spinner Andre Marshall with four for 16 and medium-pacer Rico Webb with three for 29 caused the demise, while Chaim Holder claimed two for 12.
Invited to bat, Spartan recovered from the early loss of both openers by the fifth over to amass 143 for four from the allotted 20 overs.
Brooks and Bend added a match-winning 114 in 13.3 overs for the third-wicket. Brooks counted five fours and two sixes, while Bend hit three fours and two sixes.
Spartan’s opponents in the final will be the winner of Friday night‘s semi-final between YMPC and CounterPoint Wanderers.  (EDH)
