Teen to appear in court

THE TEENAGER SHOT by police during a drug eradication operation on Saturday will appear in the District “C” Magistrates’ Court today.

Shaquille Xavier Hayde, 19, of Colleton Land, St John has been charged with assaulting a police officer, possession of cannabis, trafficking, possession with intent to supply and cultivation of 259 cannabis plants.

On Saturday around 5:30 a.m., members of the Drug Squad supported by members of the Special Services Unit conducted a drug eradication operation in the Cliff Cottage and Colleton communities in St John. 

During the operation, a man armed with a cutlass allegedly attacked one of the police officers.  He was shot in his left calf and transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance where he was placed under guard. (PR/NB)
