AHEAD OF Independence Day and the Christmas season, another stretch of the ABC Highway is in for some beauty treatment.

Today a second phase in the Adopt A Kilometre Community Highway Programme was launched, covering a section of the road from Hothersal Turning to Warrens.

Minister of Transport and Works Michael Lashley launched the project with a symbolic tree-planting ceremony.

Project coordinator Andrew Clarke said several companies had come forward to sponsor both phases of the programme, which includes the planting of drought-resistant vegetation.

The first phase of the project, covering the strip from the Grantley Adams International Airport to Graeme Hall, was launched last April. (TY)
