BARBADIAN ATHLETE Raphael Jordan, who was badly injured during an incident in Jamaica, is expected to undergo surgery today at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
However, the results of preliminary tests on vision in his injured left eye have put the hurdler in good spirits, he said in an interview with the WEEKEND NATION yesterday.
Jordan’s surgery is expected to clear up the double vision he is currently experiencing.
Jordan was attacked in a gym on December 1 at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, where he is a student.
Following the incident, the biggest concern for the former CARIFTA athlete was possible permanent damage to the eye and the implications for his athletic career.
“I can see out of the eye, which is a good thing. That means the damage is not too bad. It is good news,” Jordan said.
The 21-year-old had been wearing an eye patch since the incident occurred.
Jordan said when he left Jamaica his attacker was in police custody. (LK)
