Letters sent off about Combermere health claims

Letters have been dispatched to authorities over complaints of a suspected environmental problem at Combermere School.

Amid unconfirmed reports that a number of students went home sick yesterday, president of the Barbados Secondary Teachers Union (BSTU), Mary Redman, said she delivered correspondence on the matter to the school.

She said letters were also sent to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labour noting the union’s concern about claims that fumes from wells at the school were making staff and students ill and seeking answers.
