Bajans up for Trini clash

THE EASE WITH WHICH Barbados romped to victory in a one-sided contest against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes last weekend is unlikely to cause them to become complacent against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force.

Barbados Pride start a four-day battle against their old arch-rivals at Kensington Oval today but apart from a couple of the team’s batsmen, particularly Shane Dowrich, few of the Bajans were ever really challenged by last weekend’s visitors.

Dowrich hit an unbeaten century to earn the Man-Of-The-Match award and there were half-centuries from Kraigg Brathwaite and Carlos Brathwaite. The bowlers hardly broke a sweat as the home side rolled over the Hurricanes by an innings and 190 runs.

“The team is very mentally prepared. We take no opposition for granted nor leave room for complacency,” head coach Hendy Springer told WEEKEND SPORT yesterday on the eve of the match.
