As many have observed, our leader is seeking a distraction from the rotten situation we face, and is making a desperate selfish effort to get something positive for his legacy before elections which will see his lot out of government.
Instead of looking at a republic, he needs to concentrate on funding the hospital, payment for the 3 000 workers laid off and for welfare cases, for Al Barrack and for police station upgrades, and so on.
He should be concerned about speeding up court processes, and resolving the CLICO issue. Hanging on to a list of investors like a guillotine does not solve matters.
The matter of the recent shooting of a father and son needs to be addressed to quell the rising distrust in the processing of the matter because of the occupation of the shooter.
The matter of beaches needs attention, and while the beaches must remain public, those who conduct business on and around them need to be reined in. The vendors and sports operators need to be monitored (like the ZR operators) and those business entities which want to be beach bullies and to barricade locals while enhancing their offerings need to be made to pay beach taxes per square foot or per beach chair like road users pay road tax and property owners pay land tax.
Congrats to all involved in the recent annual primary and secondary school sports. The announcers provided excellent coverage and surely spectators can concentrate on and enjoy the events without deafening noise.
