SENIOR GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL, Senator Harcourt Husbands, today warned schoolchildren that there might be no second chance if they squandered an early opportunity for an education.

Husbands, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, said while he was lucky to have benefited from a second chance at an early age, there was no guarantee others would be so fortunate.

He urged students of Good Shepherd Primary School to be serious about education, to listen to the advice of both teachers and parents, to pay attention in class, to do their homework and wear their uniforms with pride.

“If you do these simple things, I promise you that you will be very successful in life,” he said in an address to some of the St James school’s 260 students during a dedication ceremony for the school’s new name plate.  (TY)
