TORONTO, Canada – Defending Woodbine champion Patrick Husbands rode two winners on Wednesday’s eight-race card but missed out in the feature CAN$125 400 Eternal Search Stakes when he narrowly finished second with Galina Point.
The Barbadian opened his account in race two with favourite Divine Intrigue and doubled his tally when he also took race four with 6-1 bet Bear’s Pearl.
However, Husbands suffered disappointment in the added-money event over a mile and sixteenth when he and Galina Point were beaten by a neck by eventual winner, favourite London Tower, ridden by Gary Boulanger.
Husbands and Galina Point survived a bump at the start to track the field from mid-pack and closed strongly to assume a striking position in the stretch.
