Perfect score for BCC Scholar

THIS YEAR is a historic one for Barbados Scholarships as the Barbados Community College (BCC) has a Scholarship winner and Queen’s College (QC) has set a record.

BCC Registrar Sydney Arthur said the reason the Howells and Ivy, St Michael institution was struggling so badly regarding Scholarships was the stringent rules for their students to achieve such.

He said there was a time when BCC was receiving more scholarships than the older secondary schools but a subsequent public outcry saying the college’s course work was too easy resulted in BCC students needing to achieve a perfect grade point average of four in order to obtain a Barbados Scholarship, in addition to doing cores and electives they “may not particularly like or have even heard about”.
