THE BUSY WEEKEND of crime-fighting for members of the Royal Barbados Police Force ended yesterday with injuries to four policemen.

The lawmen were hurt when a black SUV collided with a marked police vehicle that had apparently  executed a manoeuvre  to block the road at Fitts Village, St James, yesterday.

Lawmen had been  busy carrying out spot checks of vehicles on Highway 1 just north of the Frank Worrell Roundabout, as well as  the intersection of Spring Garden Highway and that same roundabout, when the  SUV reportedly failed to stop.

However, police public relations officer, Acting Assistant Superintendent David Welch, denied reports that the cops were involved in a high-speed chase that ended with the crash.
