Parkinson donate books to Dominica students

PARKINSTON Memorial Secondary School and its principal Jeff Broomes will be donating $10 000 worth of books to students in Dominica.

Speaking at a recent benefit concert at the Pine, St Michael school, Broomes said a minimum of 500 books would be sent off to benefit children in the Nature Isle.

He added the school used the unfortunate events in Dominica, which was devastated by Tropical Storm Erika on August 27, as a teachable moment.

“We believe that we can use any opportunity, good times and bad times, to create teachable moments and the disaster in Dominica has hit all of us,” he said.
