Bajan girls in Pan Am Challenge Cup final

BARBADOS’ women’s hockey team have advanced to the final of the Pan American Challenge Cup in Puerto Rico following two hard-fought draws.

The Barbadian girls displayed commendable grit and determination to come from behind in the final quarter to grab a 1-1 stalemate with Brazil in their third pool game on Wednesday.

Barbados, while benefiting from most of the possession for the majority of the game, remained toothless until a solo item from power forward Keisha Boyce in the 56th minute.

Needing only a draw against the home country Peru in yesterday’s match, the Barbados ladies took it to the hosts and kept on fighting from the first minute to the final whistle to earn a 2-2 draw.
