Charter for students in the works

MINISTER OF EDUCATION Ronald Jones is looking to put policy where his mouth is soon.

Firm in his belief that children should be both seen and heard, Jones said a charter for students has been drafted and just waiting “to see the light of day”.

He was speaking to reporters during a break of the Youth Leadership Conference held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre yesterday morning.

“I became convinced that generally, arising out of the nature of our society that our young people’s voices and their rights are not looked at as widely as possible,” he said, adding that a number of complaints to that effect from students and other stakeholders had been received over time.
