AJANI ROACH will have a shot at redemption.

Fresh from losing the individual crown, the young George Lamming student has his eyes on another title after leading the tournament favourites to a finals date with St Cyprian’s Boys’ in the Berger Royale/Cave Shepherd National Primary Schools’ Road Tennis Championship.

Playing at Blackman and Gollop, Roach, last year’s individual champ sowed Lason Grant 21-9 to cap George Lamming’s 3-0 sweep of the hosts in yesterday’s semi-finals.

Thierry Toppin started the rout by beating Nathan King 21-19 before Aaron Weatherhead gave the visitors an unassailable lead via a 21-12 victory over Joshua Dorne.

St Cyprian’s had double duty as they first completed their rescheduled quarter-final by coming from a match down to beat Wesley Hall Juniors 2-1 before completely destroying Hilda Skeene 3-0.

Fozlo Brewster blasted Hilda Skeene’s Shakeri Blades 21-4 then Dominic Browne beat Sean Brathwaite 21-9 before Jaiden Browne brushed aside Ras-Taj Phillips 21-7.

Both the final and third place play-off are slated for Thursday at the same venue.

Odds-on favourite Shakeem Nurse, the only Wesley Hall player to win a match against St Cyprian’s in the previous team quarter-finals, beat Brathwaite of Hilda Skeene 21-7 to advance to the individual finals.

He’s scheduled to face Luther Thorne’s Javonte Browne, who beat Tremaine Harewood of Milton Lynch 21-17. The individual final and third place game are also fixtured for Thursday. (JM)
