BASKETBALL WILL GET OUT to a flying start next year.

The local hoops season is starting at least a month earlier than usual, as the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association looks to utilise the Wildey Gymnasium as much as possible before it closes in April for 18 months.

BABA vice-president Charles Griffith revealed the executive has targeted the first week in February for the start of the 2016 Premier League season in contrast to the typical mid-March opening to the competition.

“We haven’t been officially informed of the date that the Gymnasium will be closed, but . . . we’re trying to be proactive and get as much of the season done at the Gym before it closes,” Griffith reasoned.
