The combination of honey and cinnamon has been used for centuries in both traditional Chinese and Ayurveda, a system of healing founded 5 000 years ago in India. The two ingredients with unique healing abilities have a long history as a home remedy (www.benefits-of-honey.com).

Last week was very bittersweet. I am still in tears and hurting because of the passing of my father. I really miss him and think about him daily. He was a good man. But constant prayers, forgiveness and the assistance of my friends and family will assist in my healing.

Additionally, I thank all the readers of this column who sent me condolences last week. This period of grief has caused my appetite to be craving sweet and spicy foods. When I checked my internal self, I recognised it was honey and cinnamon that I needed.

Silent doctors honey and cinnamon are very powerful. Honey contains thiamin, niacin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, amino acids, vitamin B6, calcium, cooper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc. Cinnamon contains manganese, iron, calcium, fibre and vitamins A and K.

The website www.benefits-of-honey.com has revealed that honey and cinnamon can heal many health challenges, including heart disease and arthritis. For heart disease, they recommend applying honey and cinnamon powder on bread instead of using jam or butter and eat it regularly for breakfast. It is believed that in the long run, this can help prevent blockages in blood vessels, heart attacks and hypercholesterolemia.

Further, they recommend for arthritis applying a paste made of the two ingredients on the affected part of the body and massage slowly. Drinking tea with honey and cinnamon daily can also help relieve pain and stiffness in the joints. Research shows that honey and cinnamon can also be used to heal bladder infections, tooth decay, bloating, acid reflux and indigestion, weight loss, mental confusion, low energy, cough; insect bites, high cholesterol, hair loss, high blood pressure, impotence, low immune system, leg cramps; diabetes; ulcers and herpes.

Finally, they are several other uses of honey and cinnamon. You have to research them to recognise the many health benefits. I implore you that as the holiday season comes into effect, ensure that you look after your health, exercise and stay focus.
