Teachers ‘on edge’

TROUBLE IS BREWING in the schools as both unions call out teachers to urgent meetings today and tomorrow.

The Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) and the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU) are holding emergency meetings over issues that include appointments, increase in workloads and the never-ending fight over the marking of school-based assessments (SBAs).

BSTU president Mary Redman has called on her members to attend a similar gathering at the Barbados Workers’ Union’s Solidarity House for 12:30 p.m. tomorrow where they are expected to deal with the SBAs and the new Caribbean Vocational Qualifications (CVQs). (AC)
