THE BIDDING WAR might be over but the legal battle involving Banks Holdings Limited (BHL) continues.
On Friday during an all-day sitting, the Court of Appeal heard arguments in relation to the decision by Chief Justice Sir Marston Gibson to end the freeze on trading in BHL shares which he had imposed.
ANSA McAL, which had been locked in a bidding war for control of BHL with Brazilian beer giant AmBev through its subsidiary SLU Beverages, is appealing Sir Marston’s ruling to discharge that ten-day injunction and was also asking the court to make a decision on legal costs.
Since the lifting of the trading ban AmBev managed to secure most of BHL’s shares – a development acknowledged by Trinidad Senior Counsel Reginald Armour, appearing for ANSA McAL.
