ALL SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED on January 6 for the official launch of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of Independence.

Both primary and secondary school students are expected to return to the classroom on January 5, 2016, while teachers are required to report to school on January 4 for their planning sessions.

The launch of the Independence Celebrations will begin with a land and sea parade moving off from Jubilee Gardens and the Shallow Draught at 5 p.m. It will proceed to Independence Square to culminate with a multimedia concert and fireworks display.

As a result, the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation has advised that all schools will be closed on this date.

Regular school will resume on Thursday, January 7. (BGIS)
