Beach blessing

THE SARGASSUM which once blanketed Barbadian shores has now vanished, and Brian “De Action Man” Talma is amped about seeing tourists catch some waves at the upcoming Beach Culture World Tour and Waterman Festival.

Speaking to NATIONSPORT at a press conference at the Action Shop in Silver Sands yesterday, Talma said the absence of the brown pest which once plagued the golden, sandy beaches would highlight Barbados in a positive light, especially since some of the big names in the surfing arena would be coming to the island.

“We had a lot of seaweed last year. We need our image showing the best of Barbados, so we are ecstatic that these pros, who certainly respect the competition, will be flying in,” he said.

Talma added that the two collaborated events would be cranking within a two-week window from February 22 to March 5 and would attract media for windsurfing, kite surfing, paddle surfing and surfing magazines from around the world.
