Pine in semis after slamming Sonics

NO JUNIOR MOORE. No Ramon Simmons. No problem.

Jeremy Gill had a game-high 30 points as reigning champs Orange 3 Pinelands advanced to yet another semi-final following Tuesday’s 76-47 blowout of Urban Vybz St John’s Sonics in the Co-operators General Insurance Premier League basketball knockouts at the Wildey Gym.

Despite missing both national players for their KO opener, the Pine never trailed after giving up the opening basket, racing out to a quick 18-10 lead before going up by as many as 13 (33-20) in the first half.

And they did so with a relatively young starting line-up too, with sophomore swingman Derion Hurley pressed into action alongside young forward Johnathan Fitt, who was making his first career start.
