KINGSTON – Off-spinner Sunil Narine and dashing all-rounder Kieron Pollard have withdrawn from the ICC World Twenty20 slated for March and April in India.
Exciting Barbadian all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite has been named to replace Pollard, who has the experience of 45 T20 internationals. A replacement for the 27-year-old Narine has not yet been named.
According to a release, Pollard on Tuesday withdrew from the squad citing a lack of sufficient progress in his rehabilitative work [injury sustained in December] and hence won’t be fit for the tournament.
His fellow Trinidadian Narine withdrew yesterday citing insufficient progress in the rehabilitative work on his bowling action. He is currently banned from bowling in international cricket. (PR/CMC)
