Alleyne and O’Neal do it

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Leslie Alleyne and Chris O’Neal made good use of the dry conditions and light work of the opposition as they drove away with top honours in last weekend’s March Safari of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Chefette MudDogs Safari & Safari Novice Championships.

It was an excellent start to their title defence in the Simpson Motors/Shell Spirax/Shell Rimula/Maxxis Isuzu D-Max as  the pair ended with a mere 571 penalties after  winning both routes of the day-long safari set by  route setters Nicholas  Branson, Andrew Pinto and Mark Western.

Alleyne said afterwards that it was very hot and dusty, but nonetheless a most enjoyable day of rallying and thanked the route setters for a job well done, as well as the marshals who came out to assist while enduring the dust and heat.

“For a change, we were not too rusty to start the season. The rally was very well set with quite a few well thought-out tricks,” Alleyne said.  (TT)
