Jones drops top ten list

FOR THE first time in its history, no list of top ten students in the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Entrance Examination has been released.

It is the new policy of Minister of Education Ronald Jones, who announced the results at his office yesterday.

After releasing the names of the top boy and top girl, as well as the top three mathematics and English students, Jones was asked about a list of the top ten performing students.

“I prefer children to celebrate within the context of their families and schools so I have done a slight adjustment this year,” he said. “Education itself is not necessarily an easy thing to understand, either to construct or deconstruct. (HLE)
