A 43-YEAR-OLD ST PETER MAN is facing multiple charges in connection with yesterday’s accident where a schoolgirl was injured.

Derrick Sherland Nowell of Battaleys was reportedly driving the vehicle which struck 13-year-old Zawadi Gilkes on the Speightstown By-Pass road.

He has been charged with failing to stop at an accident, driving without due care and reasonable consideration; having no tax, insurance or valid Driver’s Licence; failing to register a motor vehicle and fraudulent use of number plates.

Nowell later turned himself in to police. He is scheduled to appear at the Holetown Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Gilkes was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance. (PR/SAT)
