POLICEMAN EVERTON GITTENS has been granted bail on the charge of murdering Selwyn “Blues” Knight.
Moments ago Justice Randall Worrell granted him $200 000 bail after an in chamber hearing in the No.2 Supreme Court.
The bail for the policeman who made the application twice before comes two days after Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite said he could not see why he should not be granted bail if another murder accused with the moniker “Lord Evil” was released on bail.
Defence counsel Angela Mitchell-Gittens made the application while the Crown was represented by Crown Counsel Oliver Thomas.
It was unclear whether Gittens, who has been on remand since April last year, would be released today because of the volume of paperwork that has to be completed.
Along with the murder charge in the case of Selwyn Knight, Gittens is also charged with wounding his son Junior Knight, both of Bank Hall, St Michael, the same district as Gittens. (BN)
