PM’s time travel and nationhood

AT THE RECENT celebration of the life and times of our only living National Hero, The Right Excellent Sir Garfield Sobers, whose 80th birthday it was, the Rt Honourable Prime Minister, Freundel Stuart became a time traveller of history.

In paying tribute to the greatest cricketer the world has ever seen, the Prime Minister asserted that the victory over England by the West Indies cricket team, led by the then Garfield Sobers in the summer of 1966, gave Barbados the impetus to seek nationhood.

In his time travel the Prime Minister no doubt collided with the thoughts of a person or persons unknown to the general populous of the day, who, may not have made the connection publicly at the time that this cricket victory is what made us assured in our quest for nationhood.

Now we know. No doubt in his time travels the PM may also have come across those persons who are now in tears when they consider how the proud positions and decisions of the Democratic Labour Party of that time have been so emasculated by this DLP government.

Shall we know if he did come across them?
