3 injured in two accidents

TWO DRIVERS and a pedestrian suffered injuries in separate accidents yesterday.

Twenty-nine-year-old Dwayne Clarke, according to his supervisor Mark Seales at Shorelinez Inc., had both of his legs broken when the company vehicle he was driving was involved in the accident with a sports utility vehicle at Groves, St George.

Seales said he received a call that Clarke was involved in the accident but could give no more details.

Police said that Clarke, of Todds, St George, who had to be freed from the vehicle by members of the Barbados Fire Service, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth by ambulance.

The driver of the other vehicle was 68-year-old Arthur Bradshaw of Valley Development, St George. Police said he sought private medical treatment.

Sub-Officer of the Fire Service, Anthony King, said they received the call to the Groves location about 12:01 p.m. and one fire tender from the St John fire station and a rescue tender from Probyn Street, Bridgetown, responded with five officers.

He said when they arrived, they found Clarke trapped in the vehicle and had to use the Jaws of Life to move the steering wheel off him to get him out of the vehicle.

Police said the other incident involved a pedestrian and a car at Kendall Hill, Christ Church, around noon, but they could not provide any more details up to time of writing. (LK)
