WORKERS AT A statutory corporation earmarked for amalgamation want to know what’s the latest on the move.
They are hearing nothing from nobody, and are anxious about their future.
They told Cou Cou that since the appointment of a numbers’ cruncher two years ago “to effectively manage both entities, create synergies between them and make them more efficient”, the place has been drifting aimlessly.
They said this is because the new boss may be supposed to be good at figures, but he’s certainly not the type of administrator this specialised agency needs. This reported lack of direction has left most staffers feeling as if they are in a car with no brakes on top of a hill. It is that dread.
To compound the problem, the board reportedly meddled in matters staffers felt it should not normally be involved in. And this has also contributed to the level of frustration being experienced.
In fact, the staff are wondering what is the status of the present board as its term expired since the end of July, yet its members continue to walk around the place as if they still have the power, like the chairman. Presently, said the workers, board members are conducting interviews to make some new appointments. They are wondering how legal these could be when that board is no longer legally constituted.
The staffers are calling on the minister to say something about the planned amalgamation and let them know what may be happening with them, as he has not really said anything of substance in the last two years on the matter. They are simply tired of the sports and games being played at their expense.
Spoilt brat, or sour grapes?
A GROUP OF people who once revered a certain vertically-challenged man, now have nothing good to say about him.
This group is upset over this man’s mouthings and the way in which he has sought to portray their new leadership.
They are claiming that this man is behaving like the spoilt brat who, because he could not have his way, snatched up the ball so the game could no longer be played. And the fact that despite his action the group is still in the game seems to anger him.
Pointing to this diminutive individual’s most recent attack on their leadership, group members were appalled at the way he sought to savage them, and several have said that was the unkindest cut of all. So several of them who still took his calls have now washed their hands of him.
The group expects as the big quinquennial event nears, this vociferous man, who should be respected by all for his outstanding work, will become more bellicose and biting in his statements.
The question most of the group is still wondering is why the resentment? What has the person this man targets much of his venom towards, done to deserve this treatment after he elevated them?
Black magic priest in the fray?
IT SEEMS A real-life black magic priest may be contesting a seat in the next general election. At least that was what an endorsed candidate was saying on facebook recently.
The conversation that set eyes popping and tongues wagging came when the popular candidate asked: “What is our country coming to? Can a practising black magic priest seriously be looking and be actively courted for a nomination from a major political party? Well, the churches will have a lot to say very shortly about this. Is this what Barbados has sunk to?”
He never identified the person of whom he spoke, but it started a lively discussion with a noted activist who retorted: “What’s the difference between a “black magic priest” and a priest in the regular churches? Don’t they both deal with magic?
“The priest in the regular churches deal with white magic (pray to a white God) and the practitioners/priest of black magic, pray to black gods.
“You are absolutely right, I too am anxious to hear what the practitioners of white magic have to say about a black magic priest being touted by one of our major political parties.
“And, by the way, my brother, don’t we have issues of more importance to deal with?
What about youth violence, unemployment, the selling out of our country by corrupt, greedy self-serving politicians, weak leadership, a burgeoning prison population of young black men, white and Indian economic supremacy over the majority black population?
