Wrong to drop Joseph

IT MAY HAVE passed unnoticed by many as four days were washed out in Trinidad and Tobago, but the West Indies unwisely actually dropped exciting teenaged fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, for the final Test against India.

In heading to the Queen’s Park Oval, the West Indies opted to bring leg spinner Devendra Bishoo back in the side, and so one of the four fast bowlers from the St Lucia Test had to go and the decision was taken to drop Joseph.

Under no circumstances should Joseph have been dropped. The most obvious reason is that he was dumped after one impressive match in which he took three wickets, the first of them the prized scalp of India’s master batsman Virat Kohli, who he surprised with extra pace and bounce.
