FANTASTIC. A tremendous honour to be recognised among some of the great sporting icons of Barbados.

That’s how 13-time winner of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) international all stage rally, Roger “The Sheriff” Skeete responded to his inclusion among a number of sports icons at the Night with the Stars gala at the Hilton Barbados last Saturday night.

Skeete, who was the only motorsport person to have caught the eye of the officials, was included in an esteemed list of 25 which included National Hero The Right Excellent Sir Garfield Sobers, Sir Everton Weekes, Sir Wesley Hall and Sir Austin Sealy who were all recognised for their outstanding contributions to sport.

“It has been a torrent of congratulations I have been receiving, and still receiving from around the world as the social media picked up the news. I am humbled by the citation,” he said. (TT)
