Blame Utilities Too

FOR THE FOURTH time this week, a Government minister is saying “don’t blame us”.

Following similar pronouncements from Minister of Water Resources Dr David Estwick, Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite and Minister of Education Ronald Jones, this time around it is Minister of Transport and Works (MTW) Michael Lashley who was seeking to set the record straight over some of the open trenches on Barbados’ roads.

He was responding to consistent complaints from motorists about the state of a number of major roads, including newly paved stretches that are excavated for utility purposes and not reinstated for considerable periods.

Lashley said it was sometimes utility companies – in particular the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) – which were to blame. (CA)
