Dear Christine,
I HAVE BEEN reading your column from the time I was a teenager at school. I am now a grown adult and I still read the column every day it is printed. Keep up the good work.
I am in a kind of a pickle and would love to hear what you have to say about my situation.
I have been seeing two guys for the past two years. Neither of them is aware of each other.
Before I go any further, please do not jump to conclusions. I have never had sex with either of them, but they both believe that I am their girlfriend.
Friend No. 1 and I attended the same school, but only became close friends about a year ago. The other guy and I met about eight months ago. I date both of these and both have asked me about getting married.
Christine, I don’t know what to do. I love them both, even though Friend No. 1 and I see each other more often than Friend No. 2. That’s because the latter works as a night auditor at one of the island’s hotels. This means sometimes we don’t get to see each other at night as is the case with Friend No. 1.
I don’t expect you to know the kind of guys they are, so I’ll tell you.
Friend No. 1 is outgoing, has a great personality and always makes me feel wanted. He loves some of the things I do, like going to the movies, the beach, reading and watching television.
Friend No. 2 is more laid back, quiet and also loves some of the things I do, including going to the beach and cooking.
How can I make a choice between these two guys, both of whom have proven to me that they truly love me?
Please help me quickly as both of them continue to speak about marriage.
– G.H.
Dear G.H.,
I am in no position to wave a magic wand and tell you whom you should marry. I just cannot.
This is a decision you will have to make on your own, based on your feelings for these guys. You probably have to ask yourself, “Which one of these two guys can I live without?”
I believe when you look at things from this perspective, you’ll be able to give yourself an honest answer.
Marriage is a serious step to make so consider the seriousness of your decision and actions.
