BARBADOS IS RANKED in the top 10 school systems in the world.

Minister of Education, Ronald Jones, boasted of that fact at the graduation for the 2015 to 2016 class of the Erdiston Teachers’ Training College at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on Saturday night.

Quoting from a November 2016 paper titled the 11 Best Schools in The World, Jones said neither the United States nor the United Kingdom made it on the list, but that Barbados shares the ninth spot with Japan and The Netherlands. No other islands in the Caribbean are in that list of 11.

According to the report, countries were ranked according to the 12 Pillars of Competitiveness, which included macro economic development, infrastructure, health and education and labour market efficiency. (YB)
