AN ALMOST TEN-MILE car chase came to a fiery end after the driver left traffic in chaos, a trail of damaged cars and an injured person over the weekend.

Yesterday, Damonn Liamm Bascombe, 28, of Lot No. 95 Tramore Lane, Waterford, St Michael, was jailed for 100 days after he was unable to pay almost $4 000 in fines. The matter was heard in the District “A” Traffic Court before Magistrate Graveney Bannister.

The unemployed man faced ten charges relating to not having insurance or a driver’s licence, failing to comply with sirens, driving the vehicle without the owner’s permission, dangerous driving and fraudulent use of number plates. The offences all occurred on Saturday.

Officers were originally on canine patrol when they spotted Bascombe driving a blue Hyundai car along Worthing Road, Christ Church, heading towards Hastings Road. (TKS)
