THE PRESIDENT OF the Barbados Arts Council wants the artistic works of the island’s masters to be taken out of storage and placed on display, even if temporarily.

Neville Legall’s call has come as hundreds of pieces of fine art remain under lock and key at a police station, years after the historic Block A building at the Garrison had been proposed as the home of the National Art Gallery.

He was speaking to the DAILY NATION as the Barbados Arts Council hosted a CARIFESTA XIII fringe event at the Pelican Art Gallery.

Legall said he had been hearing about plans for a national gallery for decades and was disappointed that it had not yet materialised. (HLE)
