Tired of ‘empty’ Arawak promises

TIRED OF THE false promises.

That’s the retort from residents living in districts around the Arawak Cement Plant at Checker Hall, St Lucy.

They were responding to reports that the new owners of the cement plant are planning to institute new measures to control the “dust bowl” which has plagued them for many years.

Company executives disclosed in last week’s SUNDAY SUN that US$2.5 million was being spent to repair two chambers, which should allow the plant to contain the dust. Work has already been completed on one chamber while parts for the other have already been purchased. (SB)
