Blame readily available pornography for children as young as five who are performing sex acts on their peers.

They are simply mimicking what they see and know no better, said a former head of PAREDOS.

In addition, there is the possibility that households headed by same-sex individuals could be creating confusion in their children’s minds.

That is the view of Marva Springer, who spent 20 years as the head of PAREDOS and is now the driving force behind the newly launched Family Support Intervention Organisation Inc (FSIO).

FSIO, a charity which will work alongside PAREDOS and the Child Care Board, was created to devise, undertake and promote child abuse awareness, education and support programmes among the population.

Springer’s comments came in the wake of last weekend’s revelation from a mother, who said her five-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted by two five-year-old boys who kissed and gyrated on the child while they were at school. (HLE)
