LEADING VIRTUALLY from start to finish, jockey Rico Walcott piloted Sayler’s Creek to his first ever Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup victory earlier today.

As is the case when there are overseas entrants, lots of people were at the Garrison Savannah to witness the spectacle.

Heading to the front at the break along with his brother Rickey who was aboard Sirius Black, Rico rode a steady pace and did not relinquish the lead.

The winning time was 1:53.2

It was the second consecutive Gold Cup victory for Americans Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey. They also won last year with the now deceased Major Marvel.
