Reggae high on the hill

With band Third World a no-show, having missed its connecting flight to Miami, other reggae acts stepped up to the stage yesterday at Reggae On The Hill, the Barbados Reggae Festival curtain call event.
Acts like Chris Martin (who did a song with Cecile), Tanya Stephens and Everton Blender stretched their sets to keep the show flowing, as patrons – some of whom came from as far as Denmark to hear Third World – had to settle for Konshens, and favourites Capleton and Jah Cure, who closed the show.
At 6:39 p.m., an ominous black cloud covered the Hill, and soon a heavy downpour would have patrons scampering and slipping, seeking shelter.
Up to press time, police and EMTs had reported a very quiet day “with no incidents at all”. (NSH)
